The Consolider-GTC Fellow will be involved in the GOYA project, devoted to the study of the structure, dynamics and populations of galaxies at high redshift. In particular, he/she will participate in the upcoming NIR spectroscopy using EMIR at the GTC.

The Consolider-GTC Fellow will work in the development of high resolution optical spectrographs for large-size telescopes. Specifically, he/she will be involved in the optical design and integration on the GTC of the Utrecht Echelle Spectrograph (UES) instrument.

Further information
The Consolider-GTC Fellow will carry out a GTC-based research programme on substellar objects, including exoplanet detection. He/she will participate in the science programme preparation for OSIRIS and CANARICAM, observational campaigns, data analysis, and interpretation.

Further information
The Consolider-GTC fellow will work with the EMIR group of the IAC on activities related with the development of the instrument and the preparation of its scientific exploitation. These tasks will include the organization and monitoring of EAST (EMIR Associated Scientific Team) and a direct implication in the preparation of scientific programmes for the EMIR Guaranteed Time.

The Consolider-GTC Fellow will lead the work on numerical simulations of the technical performance and scientific cases of a multiplexing wide-field optical spectrograph, currently being proposed as a third generation instrument for the GTC.

The Consolider-GTC Fellow will be involved in the observational study of the massive stellar clusters in the Milky Way. In particular he/she will participate in the preparation of observations using EMIR at the GTC.

The Consolider-GTC Fellow will participate in the activities of the UCM Instrument Software Group. As part of this work, she/he will be involved in the development of data reduction pipelines (DRPs) currently in progress, with special emphasis on the DRPs for optical and near-IR instruments for GTC.

The Consolider-GTC specialist will be involved in the design of the Consolider-GTC public outreach programme. As part of this work he/she will participate in the planning of activities within the framework of the Astronomy International Year.

Further information
The Consolider-GTC Fellow will work in high contrast imaging using Extreme Adaptive Optics (XAO), in collaboration with the exoplanet research team. He/she will also participate in the development of EPICS, the XAO instrument for the ELT, and the design and construction of a FastCam-class ultra-fast imaging camera for the GTC.
