Colloquium Cosmology Frontiers: The Origin of the Universe

Public talk WS 2014

On Friday November 21st, some fundamental questions in Cosmology will be discussed by a panel of experts at the Museum of Science and the Cosmos in Tenerife, in a Colloquium entitled Cosmology Frontiers: The Origin of the Universe.

Start date: 21 Nov, 2014 - 19:00
End date: 21 Nov, 2014 - 20:00
Location: Museum of Science and the Cosmos, Tenerife.
Organizer: Museum of Science and the Cosmos, IAC

The colloquium will address some issues related to the origin of the universe:  the Big Bang model, the inflationary paradigm and the cosmic microwave background. In addition, the experts will review  the most important experiments which have helped to establish and consolidate what is known as the standard model in Cosmology. Finally, they will come to the polarization of the cosmic microwave background and will review how those measurements can be used to learn about the first moments of the Universe.

The discussion panel will bring together Prof. R. Rebolo, director of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) and Scientific Director of the IAC's Severo Ochoa Program; Jose Alberto Rubiño, Severo Ochoa Advanced Fellow at the IAC, and Mark Pellejero, PhD student at the IAC.
