New data about spiral waves detected in sunspots

An international study, led by the IAC Severo Ochoa postdoctoral fellow Tobías Felipe, reveals unknown details about the nature of a singular type of oscillatory phenomenon in spiral form detected in sunspots. the oscillations start out from the darkest part of the sunspot, called the umbra, and spread into the outer regions, the penumbra.
