Abstract:

The European Research Council (ERC)  support individual researchers of any nationality and age who wish  to pursue their frontier research. The ERC encourages in particular proposals that cross disciplinary boundaries, pioneering ideas that address new and emerging fields and applications that introduce unconventional, innovative approaches. ERC grants are awarded through open competition to projects leaded by researchers who are starting their careers (ERC Starting Grants), as well as those who are consolidating their own research group (ERC Consolidator Grants) and those already well established researchers (ERC Advanced Grants)- the sole criterion for selection is scientific excellence.

Last September the ERC published the new call of Consolidator Grants under Horizon 2020, with closing date in February 2016. In a few months the Advanced Grants 2016 call will be published. This seminar will refresh ideas and will stress some news on the rules and possibilities of the ERC grant program. In addition a hands-on seminar on the preparation of proposals is foreseen. The seminar will include two parts:

    • 11:30 a 12:30 Talk on ERC Grants information and news.
    • 12:30 a 14:00 Hands-on seminar focused on the preparation of proposals (Consolidator Grants will be prioritized), for those researchers who already have a complete draft of their proposal.

The seminar will be chaired by Esther Rodríguez Blanco, National Contact Point (NCP) and expert in the Program Committee of the ERC in Spain since 2011. She develops her work at the European Office of the FECYT (Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology). Among her duties  she organizes the proposal review service offered by the European Office for Spanish candidates and helps the national representative to analyze the results and define new activities supporting the scientific community.
